The Friends of the Park successfully won a grant from Community Spaces to have an outdoor gym in Norwood Park.

The Friends were awarded a £44,000 grant for an outdoor gym in the park.

Sporting facilities include table tennis and basket ball hoop.

Table tennis bats and balls can be hired for a small down payment from The Hungry Hippo cafe.

Work started this week (Feb 28 - pictured) and the gym opened as planned at the end of March.

If you have visited Dulwich, Peckham Rye or Brockwell parks you will have seen they already have outdoor gyms which are well used by young and old alike.

As part of the final stage of the consultation process The Friends held a demonstration of the proposed scheme in the park.

This gave park users the opportunity to try out the equipment.

Community Spaces is a £57.5 million open grants programme that is managed by Groundwork UK’s Open Grants Department.

Outdoor Gym

The Friends of the Park successfully won a grant from Community Spaces to have an outdoor gym in Norwood Park.
We held a demonstration in the park on April 13 and park users got the chance to try out equipment courtesy of The Great Oudoor Gym Company.
There was overwhelming support for the Friends bid and everyone we spoke to was keen to get the equipment as quickly as possible.
The favoured location was on The Ridge opposite the play area.
Work started this week (Feb 28) and the gym was opened as scheduled at the end of March.
